On May 1, the 2010 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review International Planning Committee, comprised of NGO’s from the United States, Europe and Asia will hold a day and a half long international conference on Nuclear Abolition, Peace and Disarmament, which is the eve of the NPT Review Conference at the United Nations. Nearly 1,000 participants will gather at the Riverside Church in New York City to share analyses, to coordinate activities during the month-long Review Conference, and to better integrate campaigns for nuclear weapons abolition, peace, economic justice and human needs and environmental sustainability.

Nodutdol, in conjunction with several organizations based throughout the United States has issued an open letter providing a clear understanding of why there’s an urgent need to denuclearize the Korean peninsula with the United States taking genuine steps towards peace. Signatories to the open letter include the National Campaign to End the Korean War, the Korean American National Coordinating Council, the National Lawyers Guild – Korea Peace Project, the Korea Policy Institute, the Channing and Popai Liem Education Fund and the DMZ – Hawai’i / Aloha ‘Aina.
