PINKS (from Korea) Documentaries In NYC 2017 (연분홍치마 뉴욕 상영회) – April 1 (Saturday) – April 4 (Tuesday)

– Four days of New films from Korea – and Talks with Directors

For the first time in New York, a series of documentary films from Korea addressing issues rarely seen by American audiences.  Films on LGBTQ and Workers’ struggles, a feminist fashion designer, and the tragedy of state violence against citizens over gentrification, these films represent the range of struggles that Koreans have been facing, and give some insight into a society that is currently wrestling with a presidential impeachment, bribery scandals, neoliberal labor policies, turmoil over U.S.military actions and a still tense situation with the northern half of the peninsula. Seven of the eight films presented are from PINKS: Solidarity for Sexually Minor Cultures and Human Rights! (http://pinks.or.kr/) an activist collective in Korea.
